More Background

As a scientist trained in reproductive physiology, I understand that a person’s gender is more than meets the eye. There are many factors, besides anatomy, that determines one’s gender identity or orientation, none of which justify denying equal rights. To penalize or discriminate against a person’s natural self seems incomprehensible. I have friends, family members, and associates who are amazing LGBTQ+ individuals who are scientists, nurses, and community leaders, who are in loving relationships and raising families. Everyone has the right to love whomever they choose, live their life as the gender they identify with, be free from condemnation by others, and enjoy the same rights and freedoms as any other person.
